Video

This is a short video taken during a deer capture on the East side of the White Mountains. In it, Geoff is flying support for a helicopter crew that is capturing radio collared mule deer. The air was fairly rough that day, as you can tell from the jerkiness of some of the film. This operation is typical of the wildlife work that Black Mountain Air Service does. Geoff is locating the radio collared deer and vectoring the helicopter crew to them.

Wildlife Surveys

In addition to air charter services, Black Mountain specializes in wildlife and resource survey flying. For the California Department of Fish and Game we provide aerial telemetry flights to monitor location and collect migration movement data on mule deer, bighorn sheep, mountain lions and sage grouse. We also have experience providing fixed wing support for helicopter capture operations. For the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, we conduct seasonal migratory waterfowl survey flights on the three major lakes in the Eastern Sierra, Crowley, Mono and Bridgeport. We have also provided flight services for studies of eared grebe populations on Mono Lake.
